Adrenaline Combatives

Adrenaline Combatives is no sport, nor martial arts, it is a concept and principle driven set of skills, informations, tactics & strategies that has been and continues to be adapted to the reality of modern urban violence and that teaches lethal and non-lethal applications as a tool in order to deal with anti-social and criminal violence and to prepare the average person on a psychological, emotional and physical level to face violence and possibly the worst case scenario.

Its curriculum is divided in two main aspects: the soft skills and hard skills.

The Soft Skills

These are your non-physical options, a street smart approach that is designed to reinforce your personal security habits and your overall knowledge of self-protection. All the necessary psychological and strategical elements related to counter violence that are designed to equip you with the right mindset in order to help you getting rid of dangerous habits and in return creating good habits.

The goal here is to develop a good understanding of anti-social and predatory behaviour in order to be able to recognise it at an early stage. The cultivation of a predatory & combative mindset is the very foundation in Combatives, the emotional software must be operational in order for the physical hardware to be functional, in other words, getting your head right is crucial since everything begins and ends with the right mentality.

The Soft Skills also include the cultivation of personal awareness, environmental awareness and situational awareness. Possessing excellent observation skills will help you to read and interpret situations and body language in a much more accurate way and it will improve your ability to spot and recognise pre-threat indicators in order to avoid, escape, deter or prevent a potentially violent confrontation, it will improve your decision making abilities, it will give you a more accurate level of communication in order to de-escalate a conflictual situation and when absolutely necessary it will give you the ability to access controlled aggression by hitting the switch in order to clinically remove the threat.

The Hard Skills

These are your physical options, the cultivation of a relatively small simple gross motor skill toolbox that is easily installed, retainable by the limbic system when experiencing the cognitive shift and other effects of adrenaline and therefore recallable under fight duress conditions such as adrenal stress, fear, fatigue, pain and disorientation. The Hard Skills are designed to equid you with a solid physical dynamic working both pro-actively and reactively that is designed to end the confrontation as rapidly and as clinically as possible. The objective there would be to spot the threat via observational awareness and to select the most viable option in order to shut it down. If the opportunity to be preemptive doesn’t present itself you need a contingency plan of action and this means that your skill set must work both offensively and counter-offensively.

The “Blitzkrieg” is a concept widely used in combative, it is designed to totally overwhelm the enemy/assailant’s’ before there is any chance of retaliation or recovery. It is very important to understand that in-fight adrenaline will be released in the body and that it will bring many factors into the equation. There are various types of adrenal dumps, early release, late release, slow release, quick release, primary & secondary release.

Learning to recognise the physiological and psychological effects of adrenaline is crucial in order to avoid mistaking it with fear: We have heart rate acceleration, hyperventilation, narrowing of the peripheral field of vision aka “Tunnel Vision”, auditory exclusion, time distortion, uncontrollable shaking of the limbs, blood flowing away from extremities and gathering at the centre mass in order to feed the heart and lungs leading to a cognitive shift from prefrontal cortex to reptilian complex and as a result of all this a loss of fine motor functions. This is why your physical toolbox must remain simple and gross motor.

Combatives

Combatives were initially designed for soldiers sent behind enemy lines in some of the most perilous parts of the world, the training program has been specifically designed to prepared soldiers psychologically, emotionally and physically to deal with extremely hostile situations and to be prepared to do whatever is necessary in order to stay alive. An extremely hostile situation is best categorised as a life threatening situation (multiple armed assailants in an enclosed environment for example), it constitutes a “level 10” threat and therefore should be met with a “level 10” response in order to maximise your chances of survival.

Adrenaline Combatives isn’t a style or a system since it is constantly growing and evolving in order to keep up to date with modern anti-social and criminal violence that is unfortunately also evolving constantly and so the main point of focus is “realism” in order to find viable answers to real life scenarios.

The curriculum taught is based on a constant CCTV footage study, we have done for years and continue to research and study thousands of various and extremely violent CCTV footages in order to reconstruct live scenarios and in order to find the most suitable and most realistic approach. We recreate scenarios via simulation training including role play and deceptive dialogue including the use of profanity etc. Everything is continuously being pressure tested with gradual resistance eventually going all the way to 100% non-compliance (full contact) against one or more assailants (role players) wearing full protective equipment and with possible added fatigue and disorientation before hand in order to add more adrenal stress and therefore recreating realistic fight duress conditions within a controlled environment.

Counter violence is the aim!

It is very important to have a good knowledge of laws and legislations relating to self defence in your country and to stay up to date with them in order to remain within the legal realm of what is considered to be both REASONABLE and NECESSARY.

Pursuing your training in Combatives, your mentality will change!

You will become pro-active, you will have a good understanding of predatory behaviour, your mindset will have the capacity to become combative and predatory, you will have the ability to manage your emotional state and to access on switch clinical aggression at will, You will possess excellent observational awareness, you will possess great communication skills with great conflict management and resolution skills. You will possess a good knowledge of criminology and psychology. You will possess a good knowledge of escapology and counter custody. You will have a good knowledge of first responder emergency care. You will have a good knowledge of bushcraft and survival skills. You will be proficient in using your natural weapons in order to strike ferociously, explosively and non-telegraphically from a restricted position and that with concussive stopping power from both your dominant and non-dominant side. You will possess great armed and unarmed skills. You will be able to improvise a weapon rapidly out of pretty much anything and to use it as an extension of your body. You will feel confident fighting in any environment such as slippery ground, uneven surfaces, unlit environment, loud environment and confined spaces such as vehicles, elevators or toilets etc.

In any potentially violent confrontation you must always expect two things: Weapons and multiple assailants!

This is how you have to train if you want to stay realistic!
